Short answer: adapters are not universal
Of the 15stroller and infant car seat pairs in this matrix (checked against each stroller maker's own compatibility information), 6 need an adapter, 2 click together with no adapter, 6 are not supported at all and 1 is not covered by either maker. Every adapter is brand-specific: it is made for one stroller model and one group of car seat brands.
An infant car seat only works with a stroller when the stroller's manufacturer lists that pairing. Some pairs click together with no adapter (UPPAbaby Mesa seats on the UPPAbaby VISTA V3), some need an adapter made for that specific stroller and car seat brand (a Chicco KeyFit 35 on a Baby Jogger City Mini GT2), and some are not supported at all. Are car seat adapters universal?
No. A car seat adapter is made for one stroller model and one group of infant car seat brands. Baby Jogger's 2026 infant car seat compatibility list, for example, gives the Chicco KeyFit family a different adapter part number on the City Select 2 than on the City Mini GT2, and lists no adapter at all for UPPAbaby seats. An adapter that fits one stroller will not necessarily fit another model, even from the same brand.
Can you mix and match strollers and car seats from different brands?
Often, but only when the stroller maker lists the pairing and you use the adapter it specifies. In our matrix, the Chicco KeyFit 35 needs a brand-specific adapter to ride on the UPPAbaby VISTA V3, the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and the City Mini GT2 (Baby Jogger notes the City Mini GT2 pairing works only with the stroller canopy removed). Some combinations are not supported at all: Baby Jogger's adapter lineup does not cover the UPPAbaby Mesa, and the Graco Modes Nest travel system is built around Graco SnugRide infant seats.
Which infant car seats click into a stroller without an adapter?
Usually the stroller brand's own infant seats. UPPAbaby's Mesa series and Aria click straight onto the VISTA V2 and V3 with no adapter; other brands' seats need an adapter on those strollers. A travel system such as the Graco Modes Nest ships with its matching infant seat, and the Doona is a car seat and stroller in one, so no separate stroller is involved.
Does the Chicco KeyFit 35 fit an UPPAbaby VISTA?
Yes, with an adapter. UPPAbaby sells a Car Seat Adapter for Vista, Cruz & Kona (Chicco), product #0156, and lists the KeyFit 35 among the Chicco seats it fits, along with the VISTA V3. Chicco itself only states that the KeyFit 35 is compatible with Chicco strollers, so the stroller maker's adapter page is the source to check.
Do UPPAbaby Mesa car seats fit Baby Jogger strollers?
Not according to Baby Jogger. Its 2026 infant car seat compatibility chart lists adapters for Graco SnugRide, Britax, Chicco and Nuna seats on the City Select 2, and for Graco SnugRide, Chicco and Nuna seats on the City Mini GT2, but has no UPPAbaby row, so we mark both pairings as not supported.
Do Chicco or UPPAbaby car seats fit a Graco stroller?
Graco does not support it. Graco says the Modes Nest2Grow accepts all Graco infant car seats, and its compatibility information lists only Graco seats, with no adapter for other brands. If you want a Graco travel system, pair it with a Graco SnugRide infant seat.
Which strollers does the Graco SnugRide Lite LX fit?
Graco strollers take it directly: Graco's April 2026 compatibility chart lists its Modes strollers, including the Modes Nest2Grow, as compatible with the SnugRide Lite family. Baby Jogger's 2026 chart covers it under all Graco SnugRide seats, with adapter 1967362 on the City Select 2, adapter 2083981 on the City Mini GT2, and the adapter that comes in the box on the City Mini GT3. UPPAbaby lists no Graco adapter for the VISTA V3, so ask UPPAbaby before pairing those two.
Can a convertible car seat attach to a stroller?
No. Only infant (bucket) car seats are designed to click onto a stroller frame. Convertible and all-in-one seats such as the Graco 4Ever DLX, Britax Boulevard ClickTight and Cosco Scenera NEXT install in the car with LATCH or the vehicle seat belt and stay there.
How do I check a stroller and car seat pairing before I buy?
Find the compatibility chart on the stroller manufacturer's website for your exact stroller model, confirm which adapter part it lists for your car seat brand, and buy that adapter. Compatibility lists change as models are updated, so check the current chart even if a pairing appears in our matrix.
