Choose the Nuna MIXX Next if one seat is all you will need: its seat reclines flat for a newborn without buying an extra accessory, and it folds into a much lower, trunk-friendlier package. Both cost around $900 for most colorways, and neither includes a bassinet in the standard box.

Which stroller is easier to live with day to day?

The VISTA is a full-size stroller and it feels like one: 27.6 lbs with the seat attached, per UPPAbaby. It folds in one step, with or without the seat on, and stands when folded. Its advantage is space: a generous seat and an extra-large basket rated to 30 lbs.

MIXX Next

The MIXX is actually slightly heavier on paper, 28.3 lbs without its arm bar and insert, per Nuna. Where it wins is the fold: it collapses in one piece whichever way the seat faces, stands when folded, and has a trolley function for pulling it along.

Which stroller folds smaller?

This is the clearest spec difference between the two. By the manufacturers' own measurements:

The VISTA folds short but tall and wide; the MIXX folds long but low and narrower. In a sedan trunk, the MIXX's 19-inch height is usually the easier shape. Measure your trunk before you buy either.

Can the VISTA or MIXX expand to a double stroller?

VISTA V3

This is the VISTA's party trick. UPPAbaby says it can carry up to three children using its RumbleSeat and PiggyBack accessories. If you're planning two children within a few years, adding a second seat later costs far less than buying a separate double stroller.

MIXX Next

The MIXX is a single stroller. It has four modes (infant car seat, bassinet, parent-facing seat, world-facing seat), but no second-seat option. Two children close in age means a second stroller.

What about a bassinet?

Neither brand includes a bassinet with the standard stroller, and both sell one that is rated for overnight sleep when it sits on its stand:

• UPPAbaby Bassinet V3 attaches to the VISTA without adapters. UPPAbaby says it can serve as an overnight sleep space with its Bassinet Stand, which is a separate accessory.
• Nuna MIXX series bassinet clicks onto the MIXX frame and comes bundled with its stand. Nuna rates it for babies up to 20 lbs (birth to about 6 months) and says it is suitable for overnight sleep when used on the stand.

Whichever you choose, the AAP's safe sleep rules still apply: a firm, flat surface with nothing else in it, and stop using it at the manufacturer's weight limit or when baby starts pushing up on hands and knees.
